4th Of July Activities In Oahu Hawaii

The island of Oahu hosts 4th of July celebrations annually.


Residents of and travelers to the Hawaiian islands celebrate the nation's Independence Day with parades, picnics and fireworks. Oahu is the most populous Hawaiian island and home to the state's capital, Honolulu. Since Honolulu is a major cultural hub for Hawaii, many of the state's July 4th events occur in the city. Most July 4th events in Oahu are on the beach, offering visitors a view of fireworks over the Pacific Ocean. Does this Spark an idea?


Aloha Tower Marketplace


The Aloha Tower Marketplace in downtown Honolulu hosts an annual fireworks display and festival. There's live jazz and rock-'n'-roll music, plus activities and food for keiki (children) including face painting, games and inflatable tents. Guests also have access to the Aloha Lounge and Art Gallery, which is adjacent to the Marketplace. The fireworks ceremony commences after sunset, between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.


Ala Moana Center


The Ala Moana Center in Honolulu includes a shopping mall and is located adjacent to the beachfront Ala Moana Park. The center hosts an annual fireworks display on July 4 and is one of the largest 4th of July celebrations in the United States, according to KHON 2 TV. This festival begins with live music performances on the afternoons of July 3 and 4. The fireworks are set off at approximately 8:30 p.m. Seating is available at the Ala Moana Center's Makai-Ewa parking deck.


Independence Day Maunalua Bay


Founded in 2008, the Independence Day Maunalua Bay festival takes place at Maunalua Bay Beach Park. This recreation area is on the eastern end of Oahu, less than 30 minutes from Honolulu via the Kalanianaole Highway. The main event of the festival is the fireworks display on the evening of July 4. Local artists perform live music throughout the day on Independence Day. Seating is available at the park and nearby restaurants; some restaurants charge an additional fee for seating during the event.


Turtle Bay Resort


Situated on the northern point of Oahu, the Turtle Bay Resort hosts its "4th of July Celebration" on July 4. Live music and food vendors are available on the resort's grounds in the early part of the evening. All music performers and food vendors are from Oahu. Its fireworks display occurs at approximately 8 p.m. Visitors may bring blankets and low-back beach chairs for the fireworks event.


Kailua


Kailua is a northern suburb of Honolulu and hosts an annual July 4th celebration at Kailua Beach Park. This event was founded in 1948, making it one of the oldest July 4th events on Oahu. During the day, visitors picnic in the park. There are no food vendors or music at this event. On July 5, an Independence Day-themed parade occurs in Kailua's downtown area.
