Bridal Shower Invitation Text Ideas

Designing a bridal shower invitation is simple, even when you're in a hurry. Every shower invitation must include text that tells guests who the shower is for, where it's being held and at what time, who to RSVP to, and where the bride is registered. But the text means nothing if no one can read it. Here are some pointers for making sure your text conveys all the right information--with lots of class and style.

Typeface and color schemes

The typeface or "font" of the shower invitation can be used to convey the nature of the bridal shower event. Is the shower a brunch at a local country club? If so, go with a more formal-looking font, such as a cursive or italic type. For less formal affairs held at someone's home, stick with a more casual print.

Of course, the color scheme can change the feel of even the most formal of bridal shower invitations, so choose wisely. For example, if a bride's colors are pink and black, try to keep all of the very important shower information (where, when, RSVP, etc.) in a black typeface so people can see and read it easily. Pink typeface could work, but is best reserved for background color or titles.

Text alignment and spacing

Typically, text is aligned to center on bridal shower invitations. However, you can make variations based on your chosen design. For example, if you would like to include a picture of the bride or the couple, you can wrap the text around the picture. However, be sure the picture doesn't take up too much room on the page so the information can be seen clearly. Be sure to properly space information; try to allow for one blank line between text lines.

Attention-grabbing ideas

When color-coordinating the invitations, make the bride's name larger and change the font color. This will immediately put the bride in the spotlight where she belongs. Or, vary the design of your invitation by using two fonts. For example, use a sans-serif font for important event information and a wispy cursive font for the bride's name, the RSVP name and the registry information.
