Bridal Table Decoration Ideas

White roses are an elegant way to decorate the bridal table.

The bridal table is where the wedding party sits during the reception. It is usually near the front of the room and is the often most elaborately decorated table. Decorations on this table should match those on the guests' tables to some degree, and should also reflect the bride's choices of colors, along with the theme of the wedding. Because toasts and speeches are sometimes made by people sitting at this table, the decorations should not block the view of the wedding party from the guests.

Simple and Elegant

Keep the decorations simple but still elegant by using only one type of flower, such as creamy white roses, to great effect. A low silver bowl with white roses spilling out of it can be placed in the middle of the table, flanked by white tapered candles in silver candle holders. On the guests' tables, place a single white rose in a silver bud vase. Or, place small bouquets of flowers reflective of the bride's bouquet in short crystal vases down the center of the table. Sprinkle flower petals between each bouquet.

Modern and Sophisticated

Create a modern look on the bridal table that uses traditional flowers and candles in a new way. Line the bottom of a glass bowl with silver marbles, and then fill it with water and place floating silver candles on top of the water. Sprinkle silver confetti or glitter around the bowl. Or, float flowers on top of the water rather than candles. A branch placed in container floral foam or plaster of Paris makes a modern yet romantic statement when covered with tiny white lights. Use a battery-powered strand of lights, and strip off the bark before you place it in the container. Hang crystals from the branches for even more sparkle.

Lavishly Romantic

Flowers and more flowers are the way to go if you want a table that is lavishly romantic. Start with a pretty table runner edged in lace. Place an ornate candelabra in the center of the table, and decorate it with vines and flowers. Choose an open formed candelabra so the wedding party can still be seen by the guests. Set a low bowl spilling with flowers on either side of the candelabra. Add delicate votive candles surrounded by flower petals by each place setting.

Whimsical and Distinctive

Choose items that relate to your special day in some way. For example, if your wedding has an old-fashioned feel, pick up some antique bird cages, wooden birds, old keys, and other similar items at a nearby antique store. Then, spray paint them all the same color, such as white or gold, and use them as centerpieces. Or, instead of placing something on top of the table, hang something above the table. Such a look can be "effortlessly chic", according to Martha Steward Weddings. Dangle paper flowers, photos of the bride and groom, or paper lanterns on long ribbons from the ceiling.
