Disney Monorail Facts

One of the most popular transportation methods at Walt Disney World Resort is the monorail system. The monorail transports approximately 50 million guests annually to and from theme parks and resorts. This in an internal transportation system that can be used only on Disney property.


Stops


The Disney monorail system is comprised of three tracks: the express, resort and Epcot. The express track goes from the Ticket and Transportation Center, in the Magic Kingdom parking lot, to the Magic Kingdom without stops. The resort track stops at the TTC, the Polynesian Resort, the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, the Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary Resort. The Epcot track transports guests between Epcot and the TTC.


Track


There are approximately 14.7 miles of monorail track at Walt Disney World, where the 14 monorails travel an average speed of 40 mph.


Size


The average length of a monorail is 170 feet for a five-car train and 200 feet for a six-car train. Each monorail weighs 50 tons when empty and, depending upon the number of cars, can hold more than 350 guests.
