The Wonderland Cake
The Wonderland Cake is also known as the Topsy Turvy or Mad Hatter cake. The Wonderland cake gives the illusion that the cake is "Topsy Turvy" and about to tip over. The cake is made by using different size cakes such as a 6, 8, and 10 inches in diameter. After baking cut each cake diagonally from the top corner on one side to the bottom corner of the opposite side. The round part of the cake is then placed on the bottom of each tier. The cakes should be stacked with the top slants pointing in opposite directions. Store bought boxed cake mix can be used for the Wonderland Cake. Buttercream or rolled fondant works best with this cake.
Hollywood Birthday Party-Theme Cake
A Hollywood Star cake is perfect for a Hollywood-themed birthday party. Start out by baking two square cakes. Print out a star template online or make your own, and use it to cut a star out of the first cake. Frost the remaing square cake with black icing. Ice the star a yellow or gold color and gently place it on top of the square cake. You now have a 3D Hollywood star. Use a glittery cake pen to write the recipients name on the star.
Groovy Tie-Dye T-shirt Cake
The Groovy Tie-Dye T-shirt Cake is a great cake for a funky 70's-themed birthday party. A simple white or yellow box cake will do. First, bake a cake in a 13- by 9- by 2-inch pan. Once the cake has cooled, cut an approximately 2-inch long strip from the top of the cake. Measure the strip to create two equal pieces and then cut. The pieces will be used as the sleeves of the shirt. Use a serrated knife to cut out a section for the neck of the shirt. Cover the entire cake with white frosting. Use edible food color decorating spray to make blue circles; then spray yellow rings around the blue circles. Spray the remainder of the shirt red to finish the tie-dye look.
