Games For A Bridal Shower Party

Host a lively bridal shower by featuring party games that focus on the wedding theme, then award prizes for skill and luck. Before you choose the bridal shower activities, consider how much money you want to spend, how much time you have to gather the materials and the ages and personalities of people on the guest list.

Veil Designer

Test the guests' creativity with a shower game that allows them to design a veil for the bride. Give each guest a 12-by-24-inch piece of tulle to serve as the veil. Provide an assortment of tools and embellishments like scissors, needle and thread, silk flowers, buttons, sequins and beads that players can use to complete the project. After 20 minutes, let the bride award prizes for different categories, like "prettiest," "funniest" or "most professional." Prizes could include small sewing kits or craft store gift cards.

Product Prices

Help the bride learn to shop for bargains with a bridal shower contest that tests the guests' estimating skills. Buy five to 10 items from the grocery store and keep the receipt as proof of the prices. Get wedding and marriage-related items like champagne, a bag of rice, diapers and a jar of baby food. Give each guest a piece of paper and a pencil. Show guests each product and ask them to write down the price of each item before tax. Have the players add the amounts they have written to determine their total for the bag of groceries. Award a prize like a grocery store gift card to the guest who comes closest to the actual total.

Purse Scavenger Hunt

Devise a fast-paced game that will help the bride find last-minute necessities for her wedding day. Compile a list of 10 items, such as lipstick, so the bride can kiss the groom; a safety pin to repair the gown; a $5 bill to tip the valet; and car keys to drive to the reception site. Read off one item at a time and award a point to the guest who can produce the item from her purse the fastest. At the end of the game, give a prize, like a makeup pouch or decorative key chain, to the player with the most points.

Lucky Chair

Organize an easy bridal shower game as a way to end the party and clean up the decorations and leftover refreshments. Before the shower begins, place a sticker of a present under one chair, a sticker of a flower under a second chair and a food-related sticker under a third. As the party wraps up, ask the guests to look under their chairs for a sticker. Let the recipient of the flower sticker take home the floral centerpiece and give the guest with the food sticker an assortment of leftovers or the rest of the cake. Award the guest with the present sticker a gift bag filled with items like bath salts, soaps and body lotion.
