Cool Ways To Dye Your Hair

Hair Dye Samples

When you're craving a little change in your look, you might turn to dyeing your hair. But using just one color throughout your entire hair will often result in a flat and lifeless appearance. Create some dimension, depth and interest in your hair by using fun colors and advanced coloring methods to dye some life into your hair. Does this Spark an idea?

Colorful Spikes

If you're a fearless punk who likes to make a statement with his hair by wearing a spiked Mohawk everyday, consider dyeing each spike a different color. First, analyze the number of spikes you wear in your Mohawk, and then choose a color for each spike. For example, if you wear three spikes in your Mohawk, paint the first one blue, the second pink and the last purple. If you have light blonde hair, simply follow the directions on the dye to apply the color to your spikes. However, if you have dark blonde to black hair, you'll need to bleach your spikes before dyeing.

Two-toned Hair

Are you stuck between two color choices when it comes to dyeing your hair? If so, mimic Drew Barrymore and choose both. In September of 2009, Drew Barrymore debuted blonde locks throughout her hair with just the tips dyed black. Of course, you don't have to choose these exact colors; this look will work with practically any color combination of your liking. Dye your entire head the lighter color; then simply dye your tips the darker color. Because this look requires great accuracy, consider making a visit to your hairstylist for a precise look.

Simple and Sexy

Create a cool and sexy look by using both highlights and lowlights. Many women are proficient when it comes to highlights, but are clueless when it comes to lowlights. The process is actually fairly simple. Highlight the sections that you want to add dimension and a visual "lift" and lowlight the sections that you want to look darker and fuller. As a rule of thumb, your highlight color should be three shades lighter than your overall hair color, while your lowlight should be no more than three shades deeper than your overall hair color.
