Birthday Party Supplies For Horses

Your horse will probably enjoy the attention of having his own birthday party.

Having a birthday party for your horse provides fun and entertainment for people of all ages. It can also be a good experience for the horse, exposing him to a higher level of activity that can be used to acclimate him to the kind of excitement he may get at shows, and sensitizing him to certain stimuli. He will also greatly enjoy the horse treats and attention! Does this Spark an idea?

Glitter Products for Hooves, Mane and Tail

You can purchase glitter grooming products at many horse supply shops.

Your horse may or may not care if her hooves are painted with blue and gold glitter, but you and perhaps young helpers will have fun applying it and taking photographs. If you have children attending or helping, prepare your horse a few weeks in advance to make sure the children are safe. Most horse supply catalogs or tack shops carry these products.

Treats

Horses enjoy eating their favorite treats.

Just like their human parents, today's horses have an array of ready-made treats and prepared cookies at their disposal. These treats are convenient, delicious and many offer other health benefits, such as ingredients to promote healthy joints. If you want to display a personalized act of affection, you can make your horse a special carrot cake or molasses cookies, or expand the party to include other attendees to prepare these homemade goodies. Packaged and prepared treats are readily available at horse supply stores.

Pumpkin

Hollow out a pumpkin and fill with horse treats, then replace the lid.

Purchase a medium- to large-sized pumpkin and hollow it out, making the opening just large enough for your horse's nose and muzzle but not too large. Keep the lid that you cut off the top. Fill it with your favorite horse treats, or a combination of treats, grain, oats, alfalfa pellets and so forth. Replace the cover and put in your horse's paddock, pen or arena. If you have more than one horse, make each one a pumpkin.

Toys, Tarp, Smoke Bomb, Paper Streamers

You can find balls and toys made especially for horses in many horse supply catalogs or at tack shops. Horses play to relieve boredom and have fun, and if you have more than one horse, it is fun to see what they do with each other. Some horses even like to play with riders on their backs. Using the tarp, streamers and smoke bombs, set up a simple obstacle course that you can either lead or ride your birthday horse through. Trainers use obstacle courses or challenges to provide "bombproof" training, which really sensitizes horses to various stimuli. Hang the paper streamers from a high branch or stand, lay the tarp on the ground to walk across, and walk through the smoke from the smoke bomb.
