Foods To Prepare For A Baby Shower

Vegetable platters are an easy appetizer for baby showers.

Your choice of food can help make or break a baby shower. When you are throwing a baby shower for someone, choose foods that are easy for you to make, delicious and also healthy because the pregnant woman wants to take care of her baby. Do not serve foods like fish, which are bad for pregnant women. Sometimes when women are pregnant, they crave certain foods, so consider having these foods out as well.

Finger Foods

Finger foods are good for baby showers where there will be no meal, either due to size or time of the day. If the baby shower is too large then you may not want to have a whole meal planned, so finger foods work best. However, if you want something that is still like a meal, have small sandwiches, pigs in a blanket or chicken wings. People can put these smaller food on plates and eat them throughout the party.

Appetizers

Appetizers are finger foods, but they can be light, like chips and salsa. Fruit and vegetable platters are easy appetizers that are also healthy. Chips and pretzels are good, simple choices as well. Fruit and vegetable skewers are festive and decorative appetizers. Grill the vegetable skewers for extra flavor.

Meal

Meals should be easy and made according to the time of day. For example, if it is a daytime baby shower then serve a light lunch of cucumber or tuna salad sandwiches. These are easy to make in bulk and make a great midday meal. If the party is towards nighttime then make something like lasagna or pasta. You can make large quantities of this easily. Make sure the kitchen has the room needed to prepare the food.

Cake

Get a custom made cake that fits with the theme of the party. If you do not want to get a custom cake but still want something unique, make it in the shape of something like a baby rattle or a pacifier. You can go very simple and pick up a pre-made cake with a message on it from your local grocery store.
