Fun Birthday Party Games For Toddlers

There are plenty of fun games toddlers can play at birthday parties.

When birthday party time rolls around for your toddler, it's time to get planning. Once you have the perfect theme, cake, decorations and favors, you may find that you are at a loss for great games toddlers can play. However, if you get creative and put some thought into your party games, your toddler and toddler guests are sure to have a blast. Does this Spark an idea?

Follow the Leader

Have the toddlers line up in a single-file line (enlist the help of some adults for this part). Have an adult lead the line of toddlers around the room, making sure all of the toddlers follow the adult. Add movements for older or more advanced children such as marching or jumping. Once the children get the hang of it, make one of the toddlers the leader and supervise the game with the help of other adults.

Pin the Spot on the Ladybug

This is a toddler-friendly version of the game "pin the tail on the donkey," as it lacks the blindfold, pins and waiting in line. Draw a large ladybug on poster board. Cut out several black spots for the lady bug from poster board, card stock or construction paper. Stick a wad of tape on the back of each spot. Let the toddlers stick the spots onto the ladybug poster.

Bottle Bowling

Set up some baby bottles or any plastic bottles a reasonable distance away from the toddlers. Give the toddlers a toy bowling ball, or any appropriately sized ball, and allow them to roll the ball into the bottles to knock the bottles down.

Bubble Chase

Give every adult at the party a bottle of bubbles and wands of different shapes and sizes. Count to three and have all of the adults begin to blow bubbles, so that bubbles fill the play area. Let the toddlers chase and pop the bubbles. Allow the toddlers to join in on the bubble-blowing fun by giving them their own wands to use.

Bean Bag Throw

Draw a character relevant to your party's theme on a board or cardboard box. If your party has no relevant characters, draw a picture of a lion or puppy or so forth. Leave the character's mouth open, and cut a hole out of the board where the mouth is. Let the toddlers toss bean bags into the hole and "feed" the character.
