Set up a party table with all the tradional trappings.
Plan a birthday party that your teen turning 14 will love. Consider her interests when choosing a party theme, as well as the number of guests you are comfortable hosting. If you do not want to have the party at your home, you can rent a park pavilion, invite guests to meet the rest of the party guests at the mall or plan a party at a party center. A surprise party is another option for teens. Arrange the details with your child's closest friend to avoid being found out. Does this Spark an idea?
Scavenger Hunt Birthday Party
Scavenger hunts can be played several different ways. You can take the party guests to the mall with a list of free items to find. Divide the group into teams, and give each a list and a time and place to return. The group with the most items found on the list can receive a prize, or they can choose the movie that the group sees at the mall.
Another way to hold a scavenger hunt is to give the teams a list of things to accomplish and a digital camera to record it. They can be instructed to build a human pyramid, give a stranger a penny or climb a tree, for example.
Bonfire Birthday Party
Light a bonfire for your teenager's 14th birthday party. The guests can sit around the fire with marshmallows and tell stories. Set up an area for music. Playing their favorite songs can turn a simple fire into a fun party. Place a cooler nearby with beverages. The fire can be a large traditional bonfire or it could also simply be a small fire in a fire-pit; either way, the guests will enjoy relaxing outdoors at the party.
Retro Birthday Party
Treat teens to a retro birthday party. Plan a simple slumber party like they might have had when they were little, complete with party games, favors and sweets. Choose an obvious child's theme, like Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake or Sesame Street. Purchase table settings, party hats and plastic novelty items to add to the retro party atmosphere. Play pin the tail on the donkey, and hit a pinata.
Spa Birthday Party
Set up a spa birthday party in your home for your 14-year-old girl and her guests. They can give each other manicures, pedicures and facial treatments. Invite the girls to bring polish and items from home, or provide all new personal care items. Be sure to place plastic tubs for soaking their hands and feet, lots of towels and a large mirror.
