Birthday Parties For Kids With Water

Parents of children with summer birthdays know that an entertaining way to keep the birthday boy or girl and the party guests cool is to throw a water party. Birthday parties for kids with water can range from a traditional pool party to simpler backyard water fun, but any type of water party will help make the outdoors an enjoyable setting for an action-packed summer birthday party. Does this Spark an idea?

Pool Party

Perhaps the most obvious of the options for birthday parties for kids with water, pool parties are ideal for those with pools at their home or who have a nearby community pool. Children of all ages will enjoy splashing around, swimming, racing and playing pool games like Marco Polo and water volleyball. When sending invitations, parents should remind guests to bring swimsuits, towels and safety gear such as life jackets or floaties. Parents should be sure there are enough adults to supervise the swimming.

Backyard Fun

Those without access to a pool can create simple backyard water fun. This type of party could include different types of water activities such as a baby pool, water balloons, Slip 'n Slide, water guns and sprinklers. Set up stations and allow children to move freely during the party. Backyard water fun is an ideal choice for young children not yet able to swim in full-size pools.

Beach Party

Boys and girls who live close to a coast can use the beach for a party. Birthday parties at the beach are usually all-day affairs, as the drive to and from the beach and setup can take time. Because beach parties can be taxing on parents, they also tend to be limited in size to just close friends of the celebrant. Beach parks with covered areas and grills allow parents to cook lunch and have a place to serve the food, but bringing a picnic lunch or snack in a cooler also is acceptable. Activities for a beach party include beach volleyball, making sand castles, surfing and boogie boarding.

Water Games

Older kids who are past playing in the sprinkler and splashing in baby pools still can be entertained in the backyard or at a park. Especially ideal for a birthday boy or girl who loves athletics and competition, a party with stations of different water games allows kids to expend energy and get exercise outside even during the summer heat. Games for this type of party might include water relay races, tug of war over a sprinkler, a water balloon toss and a wet sponge toss.
