Family Events In Oahu Hawaii

Oahu is the second oldest and most populous island in Hawaii. Oahu is home to the state capitol of Honolulu, and offers numerous attractions including Pearl Harbor, the North Shore, Diamond Head and Waikiki. Oahu has many activities and events for families to enjoy, such as festivals, luaus, hiking, snorkeling and scuba diving.


Luau


A traditional Hawaiian luau features native foods such as roasted pig, coconut pudding and poi. Luaus traditionally include hula dancing, fires and live music, and often take place on the beach. Popular luau locations in Oahu include the Polynesian Cultural Center, Paradise Cove and Germaine's.


Festivals


The annual Haleiwa Arts Festival Summer Event provides an opportunity to learn about and purchase local Hawaiian art, watch traditional dance and hear a variety of live music. The annual Roy Sakuma Ukulele Festival Hawaii showcases ukulele players from all over the world in 2-hour concert sessions. The Aloha Festival centers on Hawaiian cultural traditions including food, music and dance. The annual King Kamehameha Floral Parade is a tribute to the historical king.


Other Activities and Events


There are many other events and activities on Oahu that are ideal for the entire family. Museums include the Oahu Pearl Harbor Museum, which has tours of submarines, planes and ships. The Dole Plantation provides an opportunity to learn about growing pineapple. Hanauma Bay provides the opportunity to see many species of fish while snorkeling or scuba diving. The Hawaiian Fire Surf School provides surfing lessons for the whole family.
