Hawaiian Birthday Party Ideas

Planning a birthday party for a friend or loved one can be challenging. Selecting something as original and fun as a Hawaiian luau will make the party memorable to every guest who attends and most important, the guest of honor. To plan the ultimate Hawaiian birthday party, you need to get a few things in order. Does this Spark an idea?

Hawaiian Invitations

Make your own invitations on your computer so that you can include beach scenes and tropical images on the invitation. Each invitation can be a work of art when you make them on your own. Hand-delivered invitations can be even more interesting with seashells and colored stones. Add as many embellishments as you want to hand-delivered invitations.

The Décor

Nothing says Hawaiian luau like leis and exotic flowers. If the decorating budget allows, use real flowers as much as possible. Exotic flowers such as orchids and tuberoses give that tropical feel to the party location. You can also put down pieces of artificial grass inside to give the feeling that you're having the party outside. Artificial grass can be found in any lawn and gardening store for a reasonable price. Put it down on tabletops where you lay out the food.

Blue and green streamers add to the tropical feeling in the room. Add cardboard cutouts of palm and coconut trees to the walls to give the final touch to the party location. Add tiki torches outside to give the party a romantic look.

Hawaiian Food

A Hawaiian birthday party deserves a special cake. A beach scene on the cake is relatively easy to do, with blue icing and brown sugar for sand. Fruit salad with plenty of pineapple is a nice addition to the spread. Pork dishes and fish make good main course choices; fruit smoothies are a nice touch to go along with the meal.

Bone up on tropical drink recipes so that you can serve some real exotic drinks to older guests. Make sure there are non-alcoholic drinks available as well for your guests.

Hawaiian Luau Activities

Plan limbo contests inside and Hawaiian music for dancing and listening. A party outside means plenty of room for volleyball and other beach activities. Party games such as trivia games and charades can be a part of a Hawaiian luau as well.

Try learning hula dancing or even buy some hula-hoops.

The Hawaiian luau can be planned for any time of the year. It's an especially fun theme for a party in the middle of the winter. Have some tropical fun inside with tropical drinks and lovely beach scenes created inside the party room.
