Food Ideas For A Hawaiian Luau Party For Teenagers

Teens will love an outdoor luau and the chance to enjoy tropical treats.

Teenagers will have a blast at a Hawaiian-themed luau party. Don't forget to mention on the invitation to wear a flowered shirt and bring you leis for an outdoor party that would be perfect for warm weather. It wouldn't be a luau without some proper party food, and a luau lends itself to grilling and tropical flavors.

Finger Food

Plantains are a sweet Hawaiian banana that taste great fried.

Skewers are easy to make, fun to eat and can be made with a Hawaiian flair. Poke wooden skewers through chunks of cooked ham marinated in orange marmalade, and alternate the ham with pineapple pieces.

Slice plantains and fry them in oil until light brown in color. Plantains are a banana and are sweet and tasty when fried. Another Hawaiian snack food is macadamia nuts. Leave bowls of them out on the tables and they will quickly disappear.

Main Dishes

Hawaiian pizza will be a hit with teenagers.

Teenagers love pizza, and a Hawaiian-style pizza would be a great addition to the party. Purchase pizza crusts and pile on tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, ham and pineapple and bake.

Grilled salmon is tasty and easy to fix on an outdoor grill. Serve with rice and fruit slices for a healthy Hawaiian dinner.

Tropical Sweets

Fruit salad is a sweet way to end a tropical meal.

Fruit salad is a good dessert option for a luau. Mix coconut, pineapple, kiwi, bananas and orange slices and serve it in small bowls with a yogurt drizzle.

A themed cake that has a luau decoration would be cute, or bake a pineapple upside down cake.

Have an ice cream sundae bar. Add lots of tropical-themed toppings including fruit and nuts and let the teenagers create their own sundae for a sweet ending.
