Tourists on the Go
With all of the many sights in Hawaii, it is no wonder the state receives so many tourists in their now-cliche attire: leis, Hawaiian shirts, khaki shorts and straw hats. To get your guests laughing, play this game from the website, Party 411. Begin by gathering the aforementioned clothing items, enough so you have two of each piece. Place the items in two separate piles in the party area. Divide players into two teams and have each team line up behind a pile of clothing. When you say "Go," the first players in each team put on all the items as quickly as they can, then take the pieces off and hand them to the next players in line. The process continues until the very last player wears the items; the team whose last player is fully dressed with the items first wins.
Gone Fishin'
A tropical twist on the "Bobbing for Apples" game, this activity from the website, Amazing Moms, can be played by any age group. Collect plastic tropical items, such as plastic fish, plastic tropical fruit like pineapple and seashells, for the game. Then fill up a large basin or bucket with water and add the plastic items so they float on the top of the water. Gather all the players around the bucket and pick one player to start. In the span of 30 seconds, she must collect as many objects as she can and throw them out of the bucket using only her mouth. Count the number of objects each player manages to collect after every round. The player who gets the most objects out of the bucket wins the game.
Hula and Trivia
To exercise both your party guests' minds and bodies, try this entertaining Hawaii-themed game. Prior to the game, develop as many trivia questions and answers relating to Hawaii, the ocean and other tropical topics as possible. Good questions include "When did Hawaii become a state?" and "Name two Hawaiian islands." If you like, include multiple choice answers. Write all the questions and answers on index cards.
To start the game, have all players line up in front of you. Give a hula hoop to the first player in line. When you say "Go," the player has to use the hula hoop for five seconds. If she does this without the hula hoop falling from her hips, she has the opportunity to answer a trivia question. If she answers correctly, she can stay in the game. This continues down the line of players until the last player in line goes. The players then have to hula hoop for five more seconds every turn. Continue until only one player remains; that player wins the game.
