Gift Bag Ideas For 5yearolds

Gift Bag Ideas for 5-Year-Olds

When you are planning your 5-year-old's birthday party, do not forget to plan for the gift bag. It is a big deal to kids. Parents, however, sometimes disapprove since it is typically a bag full of candy and breakable trinkets. Why not create a gift bag that is sugar-free, tailored to your child's party and memorable? All it takes is a little imagination.

Bug House

Buy clear, plastic food-storage containers and cut holes in the lids. Write the name of each party guest and the words "Bug House" on the outside of the container with a permanent marker. Fill the Bug House with an assortment of plastic bugs, a magnifying glass, a pair of plastic tweezers, a small bug net and a mini-flashlight. Read a story such as "Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!" or "A Day With Bugs" to introduce them to the fun of bug hunting.

Beach Pail

If your child's birthday is in the summer, you can make summertime beach pails for the party gift. Buy inexpensive, colorful plastic pails from a discount store. Look for beach items such as sand molds, plastic shovels, small water pistols, flip-flops, sun tan lotion and foam visors. Fill the bottom of the pail with about two inches of sand. Stick the sand molds and plastic shovel into the sand, then arrange the other items on top.

Toy Bag

Decorate the outside of a white lunch bag with stickers of different kinds of toys. Most party stores and discount stores carry a variety of small toys packaged in bulk. Look for yo-yos, paddle balls, sets of jacks, marbles, spinning tops, bouncy balls, sidewalk chalk for hop scotch, jump ropes and card games such as Old Maid and Go Fish. Hand the bags out during the party and give the children time to play some of the games together.

The Gift of Music

Buy or make a CD of your 5-year-old's favorite songs. Burn enough copies for each party guest. Create CD labels with your birthday child's name followed by "Birthday Party Songs." Put the CD in a case and into a plastic bag. Staple a ribbon to the bag and attach it to a helium balloon. During the party, put on the music and encourage the children to sing along and dance. As they leave, present each child with their balloon gift bag.
