First birthday party decorations don't have to be expensive.
Your child's first birthday party is cause for a big celebration. After all, it's the first birthday party you get to throw for her. However, it can be expensive throwing a child's birthday party, and a few tips will help you economize for the big day. Does this Spark an idea?
Balloons
Balloons can be expensive, particularly if you want to put helium in them. Instead of using balloons, replace them with festive Chinese lanterns for an "around-the-world" party theme. While these lanterns may initially be more expensive than balloons, you can keep them after the party and use them in the future, for a second birthday party or as everyday household lighting.
Tablecloths
One-year-old children can be messy, and you'll want to cover your table. However, instead of using a store-bought paper tablecloth, try using an old sheet. This can become even more festive if you hand out markers and let children color on the sheet while they're at the table. This way, you'll also have a souvenir from the party that will last a long time.
Wall Decorations
Instead of using expensive store-bought wall decorations, make your own. You can even use recycled paper or the backside of scrap paper you've already used, and print out images online that fit in with your theme. While you'll still have to pay for printing and paper, you will spend a lot less money in the end than you would buying decorations at the store.
