The versatility of this dessert allows it to be presented in a myriad of ways with the only limit being the imagination of the creator. Determine a Theme
Cupcakes are great for any occasion, from birthdays to baby showers to holiday gatherings. Once you decide on the occasion, you can choose your theme. You can pick your color scheme and various accessories needed like figurines and other decorations. Determine what size and shape you want your cupcake display to take so you have the dimensions you need to work with. Plan to make enough room for extra cupcakes.
Choose the Display
Once you know your theme, you can create a display for your cupcakes. Cupcake holders are widely available, but most of these are simple tiered designs made either of plastic, which cupcakes are set on, or wire loops that suspend the desserts. If you choose one of these, it can be painted or dressed up with decorations. These special touches are an easy way to make a display look less generic and more homemade.
Build a Display
If traditional cupcake stands don't suit your needs, you can build your own. Any object can be used as a cupcake stand. Curio shelves and shadow boxes make a great option as well as a pyramid of empty boxes covered in gift wrap or a tablecloth. Attach cupcakes to wooden skewers and poke them into large Styrofoam spheres (great for a pumpkin design on Halloween). Use a sheet of foam in the same way to display red, white and blue cupcakes as the American flag.
Set Up a Cupcake Display
Once your new cupcake stand is ready to go, neatly arrange the cupcakes. The desserts can be placed around the base of the display, and some can be stashed away to replenish later. Cupcakes make a mutable work of art, so do not worry about things getting moved around or not looking perfect. Since your display is an original, no one will be the wiser.
