Incorporate flip flops into your wedding decorations.
Warmer weather means more reasons to hang out with friends and family outdoors. Backyard parties and weddings are popular during the spring and summer months. Regardless of what party plans are on your calendar, consider incorporating flip flops into the party decorations. Make flip flop-inspired centerpieces a part of the decor.
Favors
Make your own flip flop-inspired centerpieces that guests can take home as party favors. Add color and fragrance to melt-and-pour soap before pouring the mixture into a flip flop mold and adding a wick. Cut rectangles from a large, bright beach towel to make smaller beach towels. Hem the smaller towels, and place one on the center of each table. Arrange the soap flip flops on top of the beach towels.
Another centerpiece that can be used long after the party is over are flip flops. Purchase inexpensive flip flops in a variety of sizes, and tie the pairs together using ribbon. Arrange them in a bucket or beach bag. Include a note on the outside of the container inviting guests to kick off their shoes and relax.
Flower Arrangements
Flowers can be skipped all together in favor of a flip flop arrangement. Cut a small hole through the top of a flip flop's heel. Slide the flip flip on to a skewer or small stick, where the flip flop acts as the flower's petals. Add six or seven flip flips to the skewer to finish the flower. Use any size flip flop to make these flowers. Wrap tape underneath the bottom flip flop to ensure they do not slip down the skewer. Arrange the flip flip flowers in a vase filled with sand.
Seating Arrangements
Let centerpieces do double duty as table markers to help guests find their seats. Cut a large hole in the center of the flip flop. Write or print the table number on a piece of paper. Cut the number out in a slightly larger circle than the one cut in the flip flop. Center the number underneath the hole in the flip flop, and then glue the paper to the flip flop.
You can also create foam flip flop table markers to place inside table marker stands. Cut the shape of a flip flop from craft foam. Use a hole punch to make the holes one toe hole and two side holes for the thong of the flip flop. Send two pipe cleaners through the top toe hole, and tie them in a knot underneath the flip flop. Push each pipe cleaner through a side hole, and tie a knot underneath the flip flop. Use a permanent marker to write the table number on the flip flop. Insert the flip flop into the table marker stand.
Treats
If you are hosting a beach wedding or BBQ, flip flop cookies make a delicious centerpiece. Make the flip flop cookies or order them from a bakery. If you make them, color the icing to match the party colors. Put the cookies in a small paper bag, plastic container or plastic wrap, and tie closed with a ribbon.
Another sweet treat are marshmallow rice treats. Use a flip flop candy mold or cookie cutter to achieve the flip flop shape. Insert a craft stick into one end to transform them into lollipops. Ice the treats to make them look more like flip flops. Place each flip flop into a cellophane bag, and tie with a ribbon. Set the favors in a container like a small sand pail, and display them as centerpieces on each table.
