Bring a bit of the beach to the reception.
Whether you're having your wedding on a sandy beach in a far flung destination, or just bringing a little of the beach to your wedding, you need the right centerpieces. Create a centerpiece that uses items from the beach, either picked by hand or purchased from a craft store. Draw inspiration from your favorite beach to make do-it-yourself centerpieces.
Instructions
1. Fill the bottom of the hurricane lamp with a handful of sand and place a white pillar candle inside. Add enough sand that it covers at least 1 inch of the candle and keeps it from tipping over. Arrange a few seashells around the base of the candle, placing the shells on top of the sand.
2. Fill the glass jars halfway full with sand and add small shells, glass beads and beach related items, like charms shaped like sunglasses. Look for miniature items from a craft store, including beads, wooden shapes and charms shaped like flip-flops, umbrellas and sunscreen bottles. Shake the jars gently, mixing the items with the sand.
3. Place the white platter in the center of the table and arrange the glass jars and hurricane lamps around the sides. Add sand to the top of the platter and push it around, creating an even layer on top.
4. Place a small wick from the candle making kit in the bottom of an open seashell. Pour the hot wax over the top and repeat, making several seashell candles for each centerpiece.
5. Set the seashell candles on top of the sand on the platter. Mix and match the components for each table, creating dozens of different centerpieces. Use more candles on one table and only hurricane lamps on another, for example.
