Food For A Graduation Party

Graduation is an exciting event that acknowledges your academic career. Throw a graduation party and invite friends and family to celebrate years of hard work. To keep guests happily entertained, serve appetizing food at your graduation party. Food at a graduation party should be delicious and easy to eat because guests will be moving around and talking. Does this Spark an idea?

Pita Chips and Dip

Chips and dip are easy to serve and appetizing for your guests. The majority of your guests will probably be adults. Keep this in mind, and serve chips that satisfy adult appetites. Pita chips are preferable to "junk food" chips. Greasy chips make it difficult for guests to eat and mingle, as they will be self-conscious of their greasy fingers and find excuses not to shake hands. While you may use oil on pita chips, you can control the greasiness more than with packaged chips. To make pita chips, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cut whole-wheat pitas into triangle strips. Brush pita interiors with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Arrange pita pieces on a baking sheet, and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden. Serve with a delicious dip such as hummus or artichoke dip.

Easy hors d'oeuvre: Small Bruschetta Servings

Hors d'oeuvres are perfect for a graduation party because they are small portions of food that guests can eat while socializing. Do not be intimidated by the thought of preparing hors d'oeuvres. Bruschetta can be prepared beforehand as a delicious hors d'oeuvre for your guests. Mix a can of diced tomatoes, basil, olive oil and garlic. Slice a baguette into small slices. Toast slices, and place bruschetta mixture on each slice.

Cheese and Crackers

Cheese and crackers are perfect for a graduation party. They are easy to eat, and a wide cheese selection will satisfy any guest. Cut an assortment of cheeses such as cheddar, Brie, pepper jack, or Monterey jack. Place cheeses on an attractive serving dish with whole-wheat crackers.

Refreshments

It is appropriate to serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at a graduation party. Many of your guests will be of or over the legal drinking age, and will appreciate alcohol to celebrate the occasion. Choose types of alcohol to serve based on your guests. Include a selection of beers for beer-drinkers. Consider serving an alcoholic punch for those who prefer fruity alcoholic drinks. If the party is for close family and friends, serve champagne to celebrate your graduation milestone. However, there may be some guests who do not drink alcohol, or are not of drinking age. Out of consideration to them, offer a selection of non-alcoholic drinks such as sodas, fruit juices and water.
