Examples of Party Invitation Wording
A great party invitation will let the guests know all of the pertinent information while giving them an idea of the theme and tone of the party. Ideally, a guest should read an invitation and know exactly what to wear, what to bring and what to expect. Your guests will appreciate your specificity and taking the guess work out of what type of party they're attending. Does this Spark an idea?
Rhyming Invites
Writing short poems or rhyming phrases is a great way to have fun when designing an invitation for any occasion. It just takes a bit of creativity and the help of a rhyming dictionary. Rhymezone.com offers great examples.
"If you have a free couple of hours,
we'd love your presence at Lisa's wedding shower.
Instead of bringing a gift she'll never use,
donate to a cause for women who've been abused."
or
"We'd like to invite you to an afternoon celebration
before the couple leaves on their honeymoon vacation.
Come over in the evening between 5 and 9,
And we'd love if you'd bring your favorite wine."
If you can't get all the information into a rhyme, don't fret. Just make sure to list it on the invitation.
Formal Invitation
For invites that double as an announcement, such as a wedding invitation or a christening, more formal language is often preferred. When writing a wedding announcement, it is common for it to offer certain specific information.
