Cute Ideas For Decorating Party Favor Bags For Halloween

Cut paper bags to look like jack-o'-lanterns.

A Halloween party isn't complete without a small favor bag filled with candy. If the party is for younger children, small toys belong in the bag as well. Get into the spirit of the holiday by making simple favor bags that look like pumpkins, ghosts or witches' brooms. The bags are easy enough to make, even if you're not the most crafty of people. Does this Spark an idea?

Jack-o'-lantern Bags

Turn plain brown paper bags into jack-o'-lanterns perfect for holding Halloween treats. Paint the bags orange or buy orange or black paper bags. Draw two triangles for eyes in the middle of the front of the bag and a triangle for the nose below the eyes. Cut out the triangles. Cut about 2 inches off the top of the bag, giving the top edge a jagged pattern. Fill the bags full with candy and prizes. Don't fold the top of the bags over.

Plain Pumpkin Bags

If jack-o'-lanterns are a little too creepy for you, decorate the bags so that they look like pumpkins. Cut the bags so that they are about 6 inches high. Color the bag orange or use one that's orange to start with. Fill the bag with candy and other prizes. Shape the candy inside the bag so that it's round and crinkle the paper on the bag to fit the shape of the candy inside. Crimp the top of the bag together and wrap with green twine to serve as the pumpkin's stem.

Witch's Broom Bag

If you can cut strips of paper, you can make these favor bags that look like a broom. Cut vertical, 1/2-inch wide strips down the front, sides and back of paper bags. Don't cut all the way down, though. Leave the bottom of the bag in one piece. Fill the cut bag with candy and place a pretzel rod in the center vertically. Gather the cut strips around the pretzel rod and tie in place with a piece of black string.

Batty Bag

Cut triangles out of gray or black construction paper for a bat's wings. Make the triangles large enough to cover half of the front of a paper lunch bag each. Also cut a circle for the bat's head. Glue the construction paper to the bags. Decorate the bat by wrapping a piece of pipe cleaner around its head or giving it pipe cleaner antennae. Attach two red sequins for the eyes.
