Decorating For A Twentyfifth Wedding Anniversary And Vow Renewal

Decor like wedding bells is appropriate for table centerpieces.

The 25th or silver anniversary is a reason to celebrate -- so much so that you and your spouse may choose to renew your vows to commemorate the day you said "I do." Whether you're planning the celebration yourself or have loved ones who will handle this part of the event for you, incorporating fond memories of your relationship along with the silver theme will make the party especially impressive. Does this Spark an idea?

Photo Decorations

Use pictures from your loved ones' original wedding as centerpieces or wall decorations. For instance, copy a photo of the bride and groom sharing a kiss, or a photo of the groom carrying the bride out of the chapel, and house the pictures in silver frames for the middle of each table. Accent each side of the frame with small scented candles to add fragrance and a burst of color to each table. For instance, lemon or bergamot candles are ideal if the couple enjoys bright hues like orange and yellow, particularly if these colors were used in the first wedding. Or have the photos enlarged and added to canvas so you can display them on easels throughout the party site. The photos can depict the couple at their wedding, as well as milestones in their married life, such as the birth of their children or the purchase of their first home together.

Vow Decor

Use excerpts of the vows you recited to your significant other on the day of your wedding 25 years ago to create table decor. For instance, put phrases you used like "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you" or "I don't know what the future holds, but I know I want to face it with you" in decorative wood frames on each table, and sprinkle petals of the flowers that were in your wedding bouquet around the frame. Add table confetti made of words like "love," "forever" and "always," along with wedding-related images like hearts and wedding bells to the table, to complete the decor.

Flower Ideas

Use large silver frames to house elaborate bouquets of fresh irises, the 25th anniversary flower, on the tables and in the corners of the vow renewal site. Cover the tables in purple cloths to intensify the hue of the flowers. Or select synthetic blooms and spray them with silver or purple glitter to add visual appeal to the decor. Iris petals in the shape of a heart or your last initial are ideal for the main table or the altar area where you and your mate will renew your vows. Mixing a flower that has special significance with the irises is fitting as well. For instance, include bright yellow roses in the iris arrangement to denote the strong friendship you and your spouse have developed over the years.

Silver Ideas

Place a silver velvet or silk table runner in the center of each table. Purchase silver-colored candles in varying heights to adorn the tables or surround the area where you will reaffirm your vows. Fill a shallow clear glass dish with potpourri items that you've spray-painted silver, like dried leaves, acorns or pine cones. Complete the potpourri with a scent that reminds you of your original wedding day, like gardenia oil that smells like the perfume you were wearing, or vanilla oil that smells like the wedding cake that was served that day.
