Decoration Ideas For A Christmas Theme Party

Use your imagination to create a fun Christmas themed party.

Christmas is one of those holidays that has so much imagery and folklore behind it that it lends itself to being the theme of a party any time of year. Whether you plan on having your Christmas theme party in December or July, you can use the different images and customs of Christmas to create a memorable event. Use your imagination to come up with a Christmas theme that not only allows you to create interesting decorations, but it can also allow your guests to get involved as well. Does this Spark an idea?

Christmas in July

The idea of a Christmas-themed party in July appeals to some people because with July falling in the middle of summer, it makes for the least likely time people will be thinking about Christmas. You can mix the Fourth of July and Christmas together for your party to make a patriotic holiday celebration. Put up an artificial Christmas tree and decorate it with red, white and blue ornaments. Use programmable LED lights and have them alternate between red, white and blue as they hang from the mantle or the staircase. Wrap gifts in red, white and blue wrapping paper and place them under the tree. Don't forget the red, white and blue star for the top of the tree as well.

Charlie Brown Christmas

One of the more popular Christmas cartoon specials is "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Encourage guests to dress as some of the characters from the show. You should have a small artificial Christmas tree on a table with some of the branches missing. You can build a small doghouse and decorate it with bright Christmas lights and ornaments. To really add to the effect you should ask one of your friends to dress as Linus and have him to the speech from the show where Linus explains the meaning of Christmas to Charlie Brown.

Christmas Movies

There are several popular Christmas movies on which you could base your Christmas theme. If you choose "A Christmas Story" then you could put out Red Rider BB guns, blue bowling balls, and of course the leg lamp as decorations. For a party based on "It's A Wonderful Life," you could use coconuts to show George Bailey's love of exploring, footballs to reference the football uniforms they wore after falling in the pool, and bells for people to ring so that angels can get their wings.
