Decoration Ideas For A Hawaiian Shaved Ice Stand

When starting a small food stand business, it is the decorations that will first attract people to your business and make it stand out from the rest. If you are starting a Hawaiian shaved ice business, you want to go all out with the Hawaiian decor, especially if you are not in a tropical region. The Hawaiian theme on a hot summer day could attract guests with thoughts of a Hawaii getaway, tropical flavors and cold, soothing relief from the heat.

Grass Tableskirt

Cover the front and sides of the stand with a fake Hawaiian grass table skirt. A grass skirt is a common symbol of Hawaii that is often used to decorate tables at tropical themed parties. You can choose to cover the stand with a green grass skirt or with the tan raffia type of table skirt. Both will add a Hawaiian feel to your shaved ice stand. You can also cover the roof of the stand with grass skirts to create a tiki hut feel.

Hawaiian Figurines

Place a couple of plastic hula girl figurines on the counter of your stand. Typically found in Hawaiian gift shops, these figurines often depict a Hawaiian girl doing the hula or holding the ukulele. The figurines will add a lighthearted charm to your stand. Another idea is to have Hawaiian decorative items such made out of wood such as wooden images of ancient Hawaii kings or gods.

Flowers

Line the counter with silk Hawaiian flowers. Use fake flower leis, which are garlands of Hawaiian flowers strung together and usually worn around the neck. You can choose flowers in one color if you are sticking to a specific color scheme, or you can line the counter with rainbow leis, with flowers in different colors. Avoid using real flowers as they will eventually die and you will have to replace them.

Pictures and Signs

Attach a poster to the top or bottom of your shaved ice stand that shows pictures of fruit that represent the flavor of syrups you offer. For example, the poster could have a picture of a watermelon, pineapple, orange and raspberries. Of course, you should also have the image of a snow cone as well to emphasize what you are selling. The name of your business should be on a sign above the stand, and should have a Hawaiian feel to it as well. If it is a banner, you can place a tropical tree graphic on either side of the name, and if there is an "O" in the name, you can replace it with a picture of shaved ice.
