Games For Senior Citizens To Play At Church

Get senior citizens involved in more than just board games.

Getting senior citizens involved in games at church can be fun and creative. Keeping senior citizens stimulated also keeps them motivated and active. There are numerous simple and easy games to play, like a classic game of bingo, trivia games or a game of pool.

Bingo

Bingo is an easy, classic way to pass the time, and the supplies for bingo aren't too expensive. The items needed to play are score cards, numbered balls, a container to shake the balls (ball roller or shaker) and bingo dabbers (markers to dot the numbers called). To save money, a free software program called Bingoware is available online that will print bingo scorecards and tokens. Once all supplies are gathered and ready, the only thing left is the bingo 'caller.' The caller distributes the bingo cards, makes sure players follow along and announces the numbered balls selected throughout the game.

Trivia

Senior Sez is a trivia game designed specifically for senior citizens. The game contains 350 questions from categories such as music, sports, geography, history, culture and more. Senior Sez makes it easy to answer the question; there are only two possible answers. For each correct answer, participants receive wrist bands. At the end of the game, the winner is the person with the most wrist bands. Senior Sez can be played one-on-one or in a group with teams.

Get Active

Kids and young adults aren't the only ones who enjoy playing pool. If space is available in the church for a pool table, there are a few ways to go about obtaining a pool table, cue sticks and billiard balls at a cheap price or getting the items donated. Check local outlet and second-hand stores, estate sales, garage sales or auctions. A church member may even volunteer donating some of the items. Getting seniors active in playing pool promotes more activity than sitting at a table playing bingo or answering trivia questions.
