Bridal Shower Spice Games

Use spices for bridal shower games.

There are quite a few games using a variety of spices to play at a bridal shower. Planning a shower themed around spices can also be a nice way to give guests an easy option for a gift to bring to the event. Ask each guest to bring a favorite recipe and a spice used in that recipe to give to the bride.

The Spice Game

Take 10 common spices such as oregano, sage, paprika and cinnamon and put each one in an unlabeled baby jar. Have guests sit in a circle (or as close as possible) and pass the jars around the circle. Each guest should smell each spice and write down what they think it is. The guest with the most correct answers wins a prize. Keep a couple extra spices ready in case you need a tie breaker for spice savvy players.

Sight Spice Game

For a variation on the spice game listed above, do one by sight. Put guests in a circle and pass about 10 spices in individual containers around the circle. Keep containers closer and only allow guests to guess based on sight. Guests write down their answers and the person with the most correct answers wins. If you really want to make the game difficult, use all spices that are the same color. For example, you could use sage, oregano, thyme, dill and tarragon for green spices. Or chili powder, paprika, red pepper and cayenne pepper.

Spicier Showers

Most of these games might use kitchen spices. You can also just choose to let it inspire you to spice up the shower with a few more risque games, such as bringing lingerie as a gift for the bride to set the mood.

Spice it Up: Wedding Night Preview

If you are going for a spicier lingerie shower, try playing a game called Wedding Night Preview. As the bride is opening her gifts, encourage her to comment on each one. Secretly write down each of her comments as she's opening the gifts. Once all the gifts have been opened, read the comments aloud, telling guests beforehand that these are the things she'll be saying on the wedding night.
