Christmas Senior Brunch Ideas

Make individual servings of quiche for the next Christmas senior brunch.

Christmas food should be comforting and invoke warm memories. For a Christmas brunch for seniors, you can incorporate food that seniors may recognize as a staple from their childhood, such as grits, alongside platters of bacon, sausage and ham. Everything else should be extra special, even the coffee. Set out flavored coffees and creamers, unusual juices like cherry, blueberry and pomegranate and iced tea with mint leaves. Does this Spark an idea?

Muffins

Make savory muffins like sausage cheese, pumpkin with caramelized onions, cheese and spinach and rosemary, onion and goat cheese. You should also serve sweet muffins like apple cranberry, oatmeal blueberry, pecan sweet potato and peach. Make the muffins available to diabetic seniors by using a sugar substitute.

Casseroles

Make mini casseroles like bacon, sausage and egg or orange marmalade French toast. Prepare a classic hash brown casserole with eggs, sausage and potatoes or the newer Hawaiian casserole made by combining Hawaiian bread, eggs and bacon.

Pancakes

Try serving corn, oat, wheat and potato cakes along with traditional buttermilk pancakes. Or make fancy pancakes by incorporating pears, blueberries, lemon and cottage cheese, bananas and apples into the batter.

Omelets

Make mini omelets filled with asparagus and ham, spinach and cheddar cheese, feta, scallions, red peppers and black olives and herbs like tarragon, basil, chives and parsley.

Fruit Salad

Fruit salad is a simple way to feed people a variety of fruit. Try making fruit salad by combining oranges, kiwi and pineapple, papayas and strawberries or frozen red, green and black grapes with frozen bananas.
