Carnival Games For A Fair

Carnival games help organizations raise funds.

An organization such as a school or church group can hold a fair to raise money for a special event or to purchase supplies for the group. Fairs and carnivals use games of chance and skill to entertain visitors and to raise needed funds. A successful fair uses a variety of games to attract young and old players.

Ring Toss

The ring toss game is a common and popular carnival game. The game has variations, with wood, plastic or rope rings thrown at different posts. Some games use soda bottles as posts, but the game can be played with bowling pins, wooden poles or stuffed animals.

Jail Time

Jail time is a game that allows visitors to pay to have a friend or family member locked up in a mock jail. The jailed guest must pay for his or her release. Guests can purchase tickets to jail others and to get out of jail. Children enjoy locking up friends or even parents, and it raises a good deal of money.

Bottle Toss

Guests throw beanbags or balls to knock over bottles that are set up on a platform or raised stool. Old-fashioned milk bottles work well for a country fair. Carnivals offer winners prizes when the guest knocks over the bottles successfully.

Dunk Tank

A dunk tank is a favorite for fairs and carnivals. One person sits on a bench in the dunk tank, which drops out when a lever activates. The lever activates the seat when hit with a baseball in the precise center of the target. The person sitting in the tank drops into water in most cases.

Bouncy House

Small children enjoy the excitement of bouncing in an enclosed bouncy house. The inflatable bouncy houses are available for rent for children's parties and carnivals.

Rock Climb

Rock climbing walls give children a challenge to accomplish during the carnival. Fair or carnival operators can set up the rock wall for climbers in a temporary location. A variety of sizes are available to accommodate different age groups. The surfaces on the walls are realistic, with holds for hands and feet while climbing.

Ball Toss

A basketball toss is another classic carnival game to include at the fair. Players typically have three chances to make a basket with a standard-size basketball. The game can offer prizes for winners who get a basket in three shots. A basketball toss is a popular game at fairs and carnivals, which can raise considerable funds for the organization.
