Free Holiday Party Games

Party games can make your party the toast of the season!

Holiday parties are a great way to mark the passing of another season and spend time with family and friends. Whether it is a Christmas party, a Halloween celebration or a party for Easter, a theme-based party game can make your event even more memorable. Entertain your guests and keep the energy up during your party with some games that are enjoyable for all ages and completely free to arrange. Does this Spark an idea?

Christmas Gift Truth and Lies

Provide each guest with a 3-by-5-inch index card and a pen. Ask your guests to write down the worst Christmas present they ever received along with another worst Christmas present that is made up. Let each guest read their card out loud, or ask one person to be the announcer. As the cards are read out loud, the guests will be amused at the horrible gifts people have received and enjoy a good laugh together. Spend some time guessing which one was the real worst gift, and which one was made up. Reveal the real gift and the made up gift at the end of the party.

Valentine's Day Famous Couples

Spend some time researching famous couples throughout history, television and film. Print up a sheet with two columns that list the two halves of the couples, and assign a point system to each couple depending on the degree of difficulty. For example, Anthony and Cleopatra may be worth 2 points, while Al Pacino and Beverly D'Angelo might be worth 7 points. Form multiple teams of two or more party guests and ask them to match the correct couples. Set a time limit of 10 minutes, and bring everyone back together to provide the answer key and tally up each team's points.

Easter Egg Relay

Make use of a large indoor room or outdoor space to organize a relay race with teams of two or more partners. Each participant must pass through an obstacle course carrying an Easter egg balanced on a spoon. If the egg drops to the ground, the player is out or must return to the starting point. Create an obstacle course with several stations where players must complete a task such as circling around a chair, spinning in place for 20 seconds or hula-hooping for one minute. Use your imagination to make the game as simple or as challenging as you like.

Halloween Bingo

Set up a game of Halloween bingo to entertain guests of all ages. Make bingo cards by drawing a grid of 6 to 12 squares on a piece of paper. Fill in each square at random with a different Halloween image such as a skeleton, a pumpkin, a witch or candy corn. If you are a skilled artist, draw the pictures yourself or print them from stock computer images or use Halloween stickers. Fill a large container with folded slips of paper marked with matching images, and draw them randomly until someone wins the bingo game. Present your winner with a prize bag filled with candy and Halloween favors.
