Not just high school students graduate.
A grade school graduation is a major milestone in your child's life. Soon, they will be entering high school as tween or teenagers. Many parents feel that a graduation is a good point to mark with a party to commemorate their child's accomplishment. Does this Spark an idea?
Location
One way to mark the change is to pick your child's favorite place to eat and hold a party there. Some restaurants that children of this age enjoy are "event" restaurants that may have an arcade or games at the facility. Others may be able to set aside a room for your party guests and will allow you to bring in a cake or cater one through their services. If a group of parents wish to throw a party together, they can rent inflatable rides or hire performers, or perhaps reserve a gymnasium for a dance.
Theme
While a graduation offers a ready-made theme for a party, some children would prefer a party themed to their interests instead. Parties of this nature may include a favorite band or movie, sport or celebrity. Since many graduations take place sometime between the end of spring and the onset of summer, a beach or luau theme or pool party are also popular graduation party theme ideas. Food for parties of this nature can also be themed to include Hawaiian barbecue port or chicken, or pizza with Canadian bacon and pineapples.
Gifts
A graduation party is frequently a time for family members to shower the graduate with gifts. And while high school graduates will frequently receive gifts that prepare them for college, such as engraved pens and leather-bound calenders, such a gift may be too mature for a grade-school graduate. Instead, graduation gifts should acknowledge the child's advancing age and independence. These may include gift cards to clothing stores so that the graduate can choose his or her own clothing style and preference, a cellular phone or computer.
