Dice
It gets tiring to go to a party and have to play the same games over and over again. Charades is fun, but can't you give something else a try? If you're having an adults-only party, there are plenty of fun and original games you can play to really get the party going. The best part about games for adults is socializing with new people and really getting guests out of their comfort zones. Try some of these adult party game ideas.
Newlywed Game
If you're having a party where a lot of the guests will be coming as couples, try having a small-scale Newlywed Game to help break the ice. Make up five to 10 questions that a couple should know about each other, such as a favorite song, where their first date was and even what is their favorite body part on the opposite sex. Hand out cards and ask the questions. The contestants answer the questions about their significant other and compare answers to get points for matching ones. It's always a lot of fun and will definitely get everyone laughing.
Murder Mystery
For a fun twist on a regular dinner party, consider throwing a murder mystery dinner party. You can purchase a murder mystery or make up your own. Assign everyone characters to play, and choose one person to secretly be the killer. The group has to solve the mystery to decide who is the killer before the night is over. This game takes a little bit of preparation, but is enjoyable for everyone and really gets the group talking to each other and having fun.
Shoe Shuffle
If you have a group that doesn't really know each other very well, or that has a lot of singles in it, try doing the Shoe Shuffle to get people socializing. Have all the women at the party remove one shoe and place it in a pile in the middle of the room. Then have each man choose a shoe from the pile and find the woman it belongs to. Once he does, he talks to that woman for 10 minutes. When time is up, the shoes are returned to the pile for another round. It's a great way to break the ice and meet new people.
