The birthday girl's special day should be fun-filled.
A girl's birthday party is supposed to be fun and exciting. Though you may or may not feel that planning for such a party is fun, you can make it easier on yourself by planning far in advance. This gives you more time to do research, make invitations, find decorations and gather materials. There are plenty of ideas out there; just don't forget to use your own imagination, too. Does this Spark an idea?
Themes
There are several theme ideas when it comes to planning a birthday party for your special birthday girl. Themes such as fairy forest, butterfly garden, princess palace, mermaid lagoon, Candyland and salon sleepover seem to be popular birthday party themes for girls. It's good to involve your birthday girl when choosing the theme of her birthday party. She may have an idea that's completely unique.
Refreshments
Finger foods are easy to make and fun for kids to eat. Creating finger foods that are presentable is the key to a successful buffet table. Have different colors and tastes, and poke toothpicks into cherry tomatoes or olives to make them easier to pick up. Consider serving gelatin treats cut like diamonds, crowns, butterflies or seashells. Or try rolled-up crescent rolls with ham and cheese filling with a castle flagged toothpick. Ice cream floats could be served as the beverage. Use the soda of your choice, then add a scoop of sherbet or yogurt to the top to create a birthday beverage.
Games
Just like the refreshments, birthday party games should go along with the theme of the party. Consider having a freeze dance game. Have all the girls dance to the music on the decorated "dance floor." Instruct the girls to "freeze" when the music stops. The girl who is caught moving is out. The last girl on the dance floor wins the game. If the birthday girl is having a mermaid lagoon pool party, play a treasure hunt game. Drop several coins on the bottom of the pool. You could also use plastic gemstones and pearls. The girls dive down to the bottom and retrieve the lost treasure. Girls can work independently, or they can divide into teams.
Party Favors
Make a memorable impression by giving party guests a special birthday party favor. Like the refreshments and games, the party favors are more memorable if they relate to the theme of your party. If your little one had a fairy-themed birthday party, stick some pink cotton candy in a baggie, then sprinkle it with sugar crystals, or "fairy dust." For a princess-themed party, send guests home with their own sash. Use puffy paint to write the name of each girl on the sash. If you are in a big hurry and don't have a lot of time, buy a bunch of lollipops and tie a satin bow on the stick to make a magic wand.
