Firefighter Wedding Invitation Ideas

Use a photo of your spouse-to-be on duty as the backdrop for your firefighter wedding invitations.

If your and your future spouse have an affinity for firefighters because your or a loved one has taken on the profession, you may want to include this theme in your wedding invitations. There are several ways to include common ideals associated with firefighters--like flames and rescue--in a romantic wedding invitation that displays your personality as a couple to your family members and friends.

Colors

Red and orange invitations will immediately remind your wedding guests of fire or flames. You can even allude to this in some of your invitation wording by referencing the "flames" of love and romance in the introduction. Black is also a common hue used in firefighting. Black paper with white or gold font is classy and eye-catching. You can add more color to the invitations by having a firefighter's helmet or ax embossed at the bottom center or corner of the invitations.

Border Designs

Decorate the border of your firefighter-themed invitations with attractive and fitting symbols. Orange, yellow and red flames outline with glitter will add visual appeal to the invite, and lets your guests know the wedding's theme right away. Or adorn the border of the invitation with your future spouse's firefighter badge number with sparkly or metallic embellishments. Small replicas of the helmet your loved one wears during duty make nice invitation borders. A black and white polka-dot border is a nod to dalmatians, the dogs associated with firefighting.

Picture Backdrops

Use a meaningful firefighter-related picture as the backdrop for your wedding invitation to make the documents even more customized. For instance, take a picture of your soon-to-be husband in his firefighter uniform, or take the photo of your wife-to-be graduating from firefighting academy to a print shop to have it properly enlarged. Gold or silver font looks great against black and white photos; burgundy or black font may work well if you choose to use a color picture for the invites. For a more playful wedding invitation, you can use a picture of you and your husband wear costume-style firefighter helmets or posing with the firehouse's pet dalmatian.

Shapes

Wedding invitations in the shape of a firefighter's helmet and adorned with your new family monogram is ideal for a casual or upbeat wedding ceremony. A circular invitation shaped like a firefighter's Maltese Cross seal is an attractive invitation as well. Instead of using all of the common symbols featured in the seal like ladders and hoses, work with a designer to create a seal with romantic images like hearts, clasped hands, your wedding date, and your new initials. Invitation stock paper in the shape of a fire engine works well for a fun, informal wedding and calligraphy-style or cursive font on the invitations adds a touch of elegance.
