Fun Games For A Birthday Party For A Teenage Girl

Allow your teen to play fun party games at her next party.

Throwing a teen birthday party can be difficult, because even though teens like to have fun, they are "too old" for the typical kid birthday party. Get teens involved in the party by planning several party games that are not too childish for them. Party games introduce unfamiliar faces and get the teens interacting throughout the games. Give out small prizes to game winners to keep the teens wanting to play more games. Does this Spark an idea?

Duct Tape Challenge

Purchase several rolls of different-colored duct tape at your local hardware store. Divide the teens up into groups of four to five players. Give each team three or four rolls of duct tape. Tell the teens they have 20 minutes to create the most creative outfits and accessories out of the duct tape. At the end of 20 minutes, each team models its creations. Let the adults judge the outfits, and award the team with the most creative crafts. You can also give awards for the silliest, funniest and scariest crafts.

Circle of Dares

Before the party, write down several dares on a sheet of paper and cut them up. Write dares such as "Stand on your head for two minutes," "Tell everyone a secret about yourself" or "Sing a verse to one of your favorite songs." On each dare, write a point value. Put the dares in a bowl. Have the teens sit in a circle and put the bowl of dares in the middle of the circle. Hand one player a random item such as a candy bar and have her pass it around the circle. Play music and have the teens continue to pass the candy bar around the circle. When the music stops, the player with the candy bar has to pick a dare from the bowl. If the player completes the dare, she earns the amount of points written on the dare. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Find the Ghosts

Play this game in the backyard once it gets dark outside. Select one (or two players if you have a big group) to be "it." All other players go outside and hide in the backyard. Give each player a flashlight so she does not run into anything while trying to run from "it." Give the players about two minutes to hide outside. The "it" player has a flashlight also, and runs into the backyard when you yell, "Go," to find the other players. Players should make sure their flashlights are off until the "it" player finds them. Select a base that players run to in order to be safe. The first player tagged by the "it" player before she reaches the base is the new "it" for the next game.
