Fun Laughing Games To Play At Wedding Showers

Give the bride a break from wedding planning with fun and laughter at the shower.

Spice up a traditional wedding shower with a variety of funny shower games that will have your guests laughing. Funny games break the ice for any unfamiliar faces, giving them a chance to meet and make new friends. Aside from the gift-giving, games provide entertainment and keep the guests involved in the party. Fun, compelling games will have the bride-to-be and her party guests talking about the shower for weeks to come. Does this Spark an idea?

Candy Games

Make a list of candy bars and funny definitions, such as "post-wedding bank account" (Zero candy bar), "nine months after the honeymoon" (Baby Ruth) and "wedding ring purchase date" (Pay Day). Mix these up on the sheet of paper and split the guests into teams of three or four. Give each team a sheet of paper. Have them match the candy bars to the funny definitions. The first team to finish wins the game. Alternatively, give the guests a list of candy bar names to use to write a story about the wedding night. They must use all the candy bar names on the list in the story. Include vibrant candy bar names like Whoppers, Runts, Sugar Daddy and Whatchamacallit.

Purse Games

Find out the variety of items women carry in their purse with games. Call out the names of unusual, funny items like a condom, dental floss, a screwdriver or a miniature bottle of liquor. See if any guests have the item in their purse. If someone does, award her a small prize. Another variation is to have the women find an item in their purse that starts with each letter of the bride-to-be's name. The first player who finds all the items wins the game. Or, place a scale on a table and weigh each woman's purse. Award a prize to the woman with the heaviest purse.

Word Games

Prepare a variety of nametags with bridal-themed words, such as flower girl, groom, bouquet, shower, gift, flowers and wedding dress. As each guest arrives at the shower, give her a nametag to wear. Other party guests must call each guest by the bridal-themed word on her nametag. If a player catches another player not using the correct word, she is out of the game. The last player remaining wins the game. For an intimate bridal shower with no children, write words like honeymoon, condom, lubricant and lingerie on the nametags.

Guessing Games

Fill tube socks with a variety of random items like sunglasses, a bottle of suntan lotion, flip-flops, a room key and a garter. Pass the tube socks around the room and have guests write down on a sheet of paper what they think is in each sock. Make this game more difficult and funny by having the guests take off their shoes and use only their feet to feel the items. The player who guesses the most items correctly wins the game.
