Hawaiian food, fast or otherwise, is a true unification of the tastes of multiple cultures. Traditional Hawaiian dishes are influenced in part by Japanese, Filipino, Polynesian and Korean cuisines. Hawaiian BBQ
The traditional "plate lunch" of quick, hot Hawaiian BBQ includes grilled, marinated meat or fish of your choice (most often chicken or beef), two scoops of white sticky rice and creamy macaroni salad. Sweet spareribs, called kalbi, are also a common BBQ entree.
Spam Musubi
Spam musubi is a popular fast food snack. It contains layers of sticky rice and grilled Spam wrapped in seaweed. A sort of Hawaiian sandwich, this inexpensive and flavorful treat is perfect for diners on the go.
Lau Lau
Lau lau is a plate of specially marinated meat and fish with rice. Contents are wrapped in banana or taro leaves and steamed. Lau Lau can include any combination of pork, chicken or fish.
Loco Moco
Loco moco is a Hawaiian spin on the traditional greasy spoon breakfast plate. A fried hamburger patty is topped with gravy and fried eggs.
Saimin Noodle Soup
Essentially the Hawaiian version of Ramen noodles, Saimin traditionally contains pork, soft wheat noodles and seaweed in a Japanese fish stock. Meat dumplings can also be included. This savory and filling dish is common lunch fare, and can be found on the menu at larger chain restaurants like McDonald's.
