Fun Games For 12yearold Kids

A variety of games can be played by 12 year olds.

While many 12-year-old kids seem shy, when you get a group of them together the shyness wears off rather quickly. Playing games, interacting with each other and sharing stories will get children to open up and have a great time. These games can be played indoors, outdoors, at birthday parties--or just for fun.

Scavenger Hunt

If you have a group of 4 or more 12 year old kids, this is a fun game. Break the group up into even teams; you can have two large teams or a few small teams. Make enough lists so each team has a list of items to find. You can have the scavenger hunt in your home, backyard or if you all live in an especially friendly neighborhood, the kids can try to locate the items at their neighbor’s houses. Their lists should contain items like toenail clippers, a roll of toilet paper, an old sock, and an inflatable pool float--anything you can think of that a neighbor might have. Make a couple of the items fairly challenging, such as a 1999 penny, an artificial or alternative sweetener packet, or an old shoe. This will make the hunt even more fun. The first team to collect all the items on the list wins.

Silent Charades

Four players are needed for this game and players will divide into 2 teams. Topics such as movie names, celebrity names and everyday names should be mixed together in a hat. One team picks a member to draw a name from the hat. That person will act out the topic, while their team members have 5 minutes to guess what it is. The person can only act out what the topic is and cannot speak. If no one has guessed correctly after 5 minutes is up, the other team can make a guess; if they are right, they steal the point. Each time a team makes a correct guess, they get one point. The first team to earn 10 points wins the game.

Hula Hoop Game

You will need a group of at least 5 kids, and the bigger the group, the more fun this game will be. Have everyone stand in a big circle and hold hands. Take a hula hoop and slip it onto one kid’s arm, then make sure she rejoins hands with her partners. The object is to get the hula hoop all the way around the circle without letting go of anyone's hand. If the group is big enough, the game can be played with more than one hula hoop to make it more challenging. The game is over when the hula hoop makes it all the way around the circle.
