Cool Camping Party Decoration Ideas

Use a lantern to help decorate a camping-themed party.

Camping is usually considered an outdoor activity. Fortunately, there is no need to endure a night of cold weather, hot weather or a bug-infested campsite to enjoy a camping experience. You can bring the camping party indoors and with a few decorations, you can turn your house into a cool and exciting camping adventure for your kids and their friends. Does this Spark an idea?

Tent

Move the furniture to make room for a tent. The larger the tent, the better. Inside the tent, kids can eat their food, play games, open presents and sleep if it's a sleepover. For an activity, turn off the lights, close the tent windows and give each child a flashlight or pass a flashlight around to tell scary stories.

Campfire

Get out the camping chairs and light and surround your fireplace. If you don't have a fireplace, make one with cardboard boxes (painted brown) and red construction paper or tissue paper for flames. Turn on a nearby fan for to make the flames move for an added effect.

Nighttime

Create a nighttime scene with cut-out or glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling, black cloths draped on the walls and a hanging moon. Hang or set out battery-operated lanterns. Play outdoor sounds such as chirping crickets or a hooting owl on your music player.

Nature

Buy rubber bugs, lizards and other creatures you might see on a camping trip. Scatter them throughout the house, such as on the food table or inside the tent. If the party is at night, use glow-in-the-dark creatures.

Miscellaneous

Paint a camp sign on a piece of wood. It can just say "Camp" or also include the child's name who is hosting the party. Hang the sign in your entrance way or on your front door. Use green paper products and utensils and hang up green and brown streamers.
