End Of The School Year Parties For Kids

Help kids kick off summer with an end of the school year party

Kids love a good party, and the end of the school year provides an ideal opportunity for one. Kids have worked hard all year and made many great accomplishments. Help them say goodbye to homework for a while and congratulate them for all their hard work with a party just for them. Whether they are graduating kindergarten or going into middle school, you can find a party theme everyone can enjoy.

Luau

Kick off the summer season with a luau. Send out invitations that look like airline tickets asking your guests to join you. Serve foods popular at traditional luaus or those that represent Hawaiian style in a fun way, such as tropical drinks, teriyaki skewers, coconut shrimp and pineapple upside-down cake. Decorate the luau location with tiki torches, grass skirts, palm trees and coconuts. Offer fun activities such as a limbo contest and hula dancing, or decorate a pair of flip flops with fun embellishments like seashells or small surfboards.

Carnival

Send out invitations that look like carnival tickets. Serve food often found at carnivals, such as hot dogs, churros, roasted corn on a stick or snow cones. You could even rent a cotton candy machine. Set up activities found at carnivals such as face painting and games. Put out a table with several fish bowls, and have participants toss ping-pong balls into the fish bowls. Stick balloons to a dart board, and conduct a dart toss to see who can pop the balloons. Don't forget to have prizes for the game winners.

Under the Sea Party

Invitations for this party could take the form of a message in a bottle. Write invites on pieces of paper, roll them up and stick them in bottles. Decorate the party area with fish, seashells, netting, and blue and silver streamers. Offer activities such as a treasure hunt or fishing games. Have a sandbox for little ones and a craft table where they can make their own sea creature. Bigger kids might enjoy decorating a picture frame or mirror with seashells. Serve fun fish or ocean-inspired food such as California rolls, shrimp cocktails and goldfish crackers.

Graduation Party

Send out invitations in the form of a diploma. Decorate with balloon bouquets, streamers and confetti. Serve kid-friendly and easy-to-grab food such as pizza, mini tacos, fruit and cupcakes. Offer age-appropriate activities including relay races or flag football. Give everyone a tassel at the door, and have kids make their own graduation caps. Finally, offer a photo op for graduates in their graduation cap as they stand in front of a "Class of _____" banner or poster.
