Easytomake Table Decorations For A '50s Party

Use vintage records in centerpieces for a sock hop.

Decorate your sock hop with the teals and pinks of the '50s era, combined with black and white checkered prints, poodle skirts and vinyl records. Add soda bottles, cat-eye glasses and retro guitars to round out the decor. Does this Spark an idea?

Centerpieces

Create centerpieces of teal or robin-egg blue and pink flowers, like carnations and ranunculus, coupled with metallic sparkle sprays in matching colors. Add silver accents in the vase or filler to mimic the chrome popular on cars of the period and unite everything on a square of black and white checkered material or a vintage record purchased from a thrift store.

Scatters

Confetti shaped like cat-eye glasses, records and music notes spread over a pink or teal tablecloth and checkered table runner keep decorations low-key to facilitate conversation at the table. Alternate checkered cloths and solid runners with the reverse, while mixing and matching pinks and teals or blue. Matchbox-sized mini cars, like 1956 Chevrolets and classic Cadillacs, provide an added touch of nostalgia.

Soda Counter

Milkshake or soda glasses filled with sparkly plastic grass and metallic ting evoke memories of classic soda counters, especially when coupled with poodle-skirt tablecloths and cat-eye glasses. Include trivia questions about popular music from the 1950s on cards shaped like records, poodles, cars or music notes.
