Dried Tropical Flowers

The plumeria flower is a tropical flower that can be dried.

Dried flowers are often used as decorations in picture frames on shelves or as wall art. Tropical flowers are known for their brilliant colors, so drying them for a flower bouquet or pressing them for a picture is a common thing to do to display tropical flowers. Dried tropical flowers will also provide a different texture than other flowers, such as roses or flower grasses. Does this Spark an idea?

Lotus Pods

The lotus pod is a flower that also produces fruit. It is a large flower with a broad circular surface, where the fruit grows inside the flower itself. The petals of the flower will drop off the flower, leaving the surface of the flower and the fruit exposed. If you are planning to dry the flower, ensure that it does not have any fruit left in the compartments. Although the fruit will also dry in the process, it may also start rotting, so clean out the fruit before you leave the flower to dry. Once dried, it will produce a unique texture for any flower bouquet.

Xanthovillosa

The xanthovillosa flower, also known as the Shogun flower, is a large flower that reaches 8 to 10 feet in height. It is bright yellow, spiky leaves protruding from its stem. The flower hangs downward as it grows, so it is accustomed to growing in shady areas. When the xanthovillosa flower has dried, it will stand tall with a dark golden color. It is ideal for dried flower decorations or bouquets of flowers to add some extra texture and warmth.

Plumeria

The plumeria flower is a delicate Hawaiian flower that adds soft texture to any flower bouquet, but also adds bold coloring and an element of the tropics. The plumeria flower often features two colors that fade into one another over the long, twisted flower petals. This can be a yellow and white combination or a pink and darker orange combination, for example. The plumeria flower is ideal for drying, if you are looking for some different texture or adding some twists to your drying bouquet.

Tropical Cottage Rose

The cottage rose is the official flower on the island of Maui, Hawaii. The cottage rose comes in a variety of shades, including white, yellow and pink. To dry the flower without losing petals, hang it upside down. You can also press the flower flat and let it dry by opening the flower petals up from the center of the flower and applying pressure during the drying process. This method is ideal for drying flowers for frames.
