Color Palette
For a Fancy Nancy party, be prepared to use a lot of vibrant jewel-toned colors. Your main colors will be hot pink and purple, as those are Fancy Nancy's favorites, and figure prominently in any Fancy Nancy-themed partyware that you might purchase. Other vibrant colors, like golden yellow and bright teal, should be present as well as accents in your decorations.
Materials
Fancy Nancy is almost always depicted wearing a feather boa, a load of necklaces, bracelets and rings, and plenty of sparkle. To really capture the Fancy Nancy vibe, be prepared to display feather boas and metallic beaded necklaces around. Tulle fabric works exceedingly well for fleshing out a Fancy Nancy theme. It can be used on the tables, surrounding the centerpieces or draped from the ceiling.
Focal Points
Depending upon how many tables you will have set up, there are a number of ways that you can accent each table. Jewelry racks draped with sparkly costume jewelry are the perfect Fancy Nancy accessory. Mardi Gras beads work especially well and are very affordable. A Fancy Nancy theme lends itself well to having a tea party or other formal, seated meal, so make the most of your place settings. Consider forgoing paper plates and instead using mismatched china plates that you find at garage sales and thrift stores. The more intricate and ornate the design, the better. Craft fancy hair clips for your guests using brightly colored tulle and silk flowers, and place a fancy barrette on each plate. Create tulle skirts from a length of pretty ribbon sewn or glued to some brightly colored tulle. Tie a skirt to the back of each chair for a decoration that doubles as a party favor.
