Fall Birthday Party Ideas

Fall has a unique color scheme that can be used when planning parties.

People born in the months of September, October, November and into December are all autumn babies. Although you don't have to acknowledge the season when planning a fall birthday party, there are certain considerations that are largely unavoidable, such as cooler weather in many places, and planning a party with the season in mind can make a party feel slightly less generic when it is done right. Does this Spark an idea?

Leaf Animals

Capitalize on the diversity and abundance of fall leaves by having guests at a fall birthday party create animals from the leaves. Collect as many different leaves as you can in different colors just before the party. Provide each guest with a sheet of plain paper, glue and a pen or marker. Leaves can make wings, bodies--whatever the guests can think up.

Pumpkin-Decorating Party

If the autumn birthday falls around Halloween, a pumpkin-decorating party can be fun. Provide small pumpkins for each of the guests. To cut down on both the hazards and the mess associated with carving pumpkins, provide paint instead. Serve toasted pumpkin seeds to the guests while they work as a healthy snack relating to the theme that will counterbalance the birthday cake.

Campfire Night

Capitalize on the cooler temperatures of autumn by holding a party at night around a campfire. Provide plenty of hot dogs for guests to roast, along with marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate bars. Have each guest tell a campfire story to pass the time.

Leaf Pile Jumping

Kill two birds with one stone by turning a chore that you already need to do in the fall (raking) into a way to prepare for a fall birthday party. Save all the raked leaves in big garbage bags and let them collect in the garage or shed until the party. Turn your yard then into a leafy playground by creating a massive leaf pile for the partygoers to jump into. It's a child's dream come true.

Harvest Time Party

Although people still associate fall with the harvest, in the days of supermarkets and year-round produce, the act of choosing, preparing and eating produce doesn't seem to directly relate. Go back to the basics by throwing a party at a farm, especially one where the guests can pick out their own vegetables, such as squash or pumpkins. Animals at the farm will make the experience even more fun for children.
