Baby Shower Games For A Large Group

Games are fun for guests and expenct parents at large baby showers.

Baby showers have traditionally been for the expecting mother, her friends and family members of both parents. Today many showers are for both parents, men as well as women and couples as well as singles. The showers are no longer a few hours where women sit around and eat while the mother to be opens gifts for the baby. There are many games that can be played to make the shower a real party and plenty of fun for the expecting parents and guests alike. Does this Spark an idea?

Measure Mommy's Tummy

For this game, you will need a skein of yarn and a pair of scissors. The object of this game is to see which guest can come closest in selecting a length of yarn that will fit around the expecting mother's waist. The host walks around to each guests with a skein of yarn and a pair of scissors. Each guest selects how much yarn she thinks it will take to go around the waist of the mother-to-be. The host cuts the yarn where the guest tells her to and the guest holds onto her yarn. When all guests have selected their yarn lengths, the mother-to-be walks to each guest and she attempts to place the yarn around the mother's stomach. The guest who comes closest to an exact fit wins.

Empty the Baby Bottle

For this game, each guest needs a baby bottle with a top and nipple that has been filled with something to drink. Make sure each bottle is filled with the same amount of liquid. When each guest has a bottle, everyone starts drinking at the same time. The guest to empty her bottle first wins.

Baby Gift Bingo

This game uses pink, blue or yellow construction paper divided into squares as a Bingo card. Pink construction paper is used if the baby is expected to be a girl, blue for a boy and yellow if the couple does not know the sex of the baby. Give each guest a sheet of construction paper, along with a pencil or pen, before the gifts are opened. Guests divide the construction paper into squares to represent a Bingo card. The card is divided into either four, nine or 16 squares, depending on the number of gifts. Each guest either writes the name of an item or draws a picture of an item in each square, representing what they believe the gifts will be. As the gifts are opened, the guests mark off the items found on their card that correspond to the gift. The first person to complete a row or column wins.

Cotton ball game

This game requires two large bowls, cotton balls, a spoon and a blindfold. Place the cotton balls into one of the bowls. Blindfold guests one at a time and give them the kitchen spoon. The blindfolded guests move as many cotton balls with the spoon into the empty bowl as possible, and the guest who moves the most cotton balls wins.

The Rice and diaper pins game

A large bowl, uncooked rice, a package of small safety pins, a stopwatch and a blindfold are needed to play this game. Fill the bowl half-full of the uncooked rice and mix in the package of small safety pins. Blindfold the guests, one at a time, set the timer for one minute and have the guests take out as many safety pins as they can from the bowl of rice. The guest who removes the most safety pins in one minute wins.

Bottle Bowling

To play Bottle Bowling, all you need are 10 baby bottles and a ball. Set the bottles up in a triangle, and give each guest a turn to roll a ball and knock down pins. The guest who knocks down the most pins wins the game.
