There are plenty of spots in Honolulu to enjoy a mojito or mai tai.
Some consider Oahu the epicenter of nightlife in the Hawaiian Islands. The island's largest city, Honolulu, is home to some of the most popular bars in the state. With crowds of people flocking to this tropical paradise looking for a good time, there are plenty of cocktail establishments that line the beaches and streets of Hawaii's most populous city.
Mai Tai Bar
The Mai Tai Bar in Honolulu is one of three locations owned by Bubba Gump Shrimp Company Restaurants; it's the only one of its kind in Hawaii. This open-air bar sits atop the Ala Moana Mall, a few miles away from the tourist playground of Waikiki. Locals make up the majority of the crowd in this party zone, with a healthy dose of tourist dollars helping to push the location to great success.
The bar, as the name indicates, specializes in a menu of unique and potent mai tai cocktails. The traditional mai tai is joined by the mango mai tai, icy mai tai and lychee mai tai for a full range of flavors. The bar also has a wide selection of beer and other cocktail options, as well as wine and pupus (appetizers) for the hungry crowd. The laid-back atmosphere includes lounging areas with wicker furniture, constant big wave surf videos playing on the flat screens, and nightly happy hour specials.

Duke's Barefoot Bar
Duke's is certainly Waikiki's most famous and popular nightlife spot. Named after the father of surfing, Duke Kahanamoku, this restaurant and bar has won the Hale Aina Award from "Honolulu" magazine multiple times. The award has named it the best place to take out-of-town guests when they come for a visit.
From the bar, guests can sip a mai tai or munch on fish tacos as they watch surfers ride the gentle waves on the break once surfed by Duke himself. The city's most famous sight, Diamondhead crater is off in the distance, almost seeming like sitting there is being in the middle of a living postcard.

Lulu's
Directly across from the famous Waikiki Beach, Lulu's is an open-air bar and dining room with a magnificent view of sunset on the Pacific Ocean. The décor is surf related and transports visitors into the heyday of surfing with its retro style.
From Beach Boys Nachos to Lulu's Surf and Turf, there is plenty of good food to lay on your stomach before taking part in the late night activities. The bar features a wide array of specialty drinks from knowledgeable bartenders who can make pretty much anything you have in mind. Get a giant fishbowl cocktail or settle for a simple $2 Pabst Blue Ribbon. This bar has both, and everything in between.
Lulu's is a prime spot for early Sunday morning NFL action (remember the time difference if you live on the mainland) and it is also a happening late night venue with open mic nights and live musical performances scheduled nearly every night.
