Bat Mitzvah Centerpiece Ideas

Make creative and eye-catching centerpieces for your daughter's bat mitzvah party.

A bat mitzvah is a ceremony that marks a girl's coming of age, usually when she's 13, in the Jewish faith. A party almost always accompanies this rite of passage. Most girls want to celebrate in style, with of-the-moment decorations and entertainment. If you're planning a party for your daughter, you can create centerpieces that reflect her taste and look more expensive and time-consuming than they really are.

Floating Candles

Fill large glass bowls with water, leaving about an inch of space at the top. Add food coloring to the water. The color should coordinate with the rest of your decorations. Sprinkle in glitter. Float some candles on top of the water. Floating candles in different shapes can be found at craft stores.

Another idea is filling the bowls about halfway with some colored stones or gems before you pour in the water. Add the floating candles. Surround the bowls with small mirrors, flower petals or votive candles.

Balloon Centerpieces

Collect some boxes that are the same size, such as shoe boxes. Wrap the boxes with gift wrapping paper that matches the party colors. Fill the boxes with something to weigh them down, such as rocks or paperweights. Tie balloon bouquets around each box and set them on the tables. Sprinkle confetti around the boxes to add a little more pizazz.

Candy Centerpieces

There are a few ways you can create candy centerpieces. Create a lollipop bouquet by filling glass vases with clear marbles and adding the lollipops.

Another idea is filling glass bowls, oversized wine glasses or fish bowls with candy. Colored chocolate candies in the party colors look festive in a clear bowl.

You could also fill clear-glass bowls with different types of candy. Wrap ribbons around the bowls or attach a balloon or two to each one.
