Beach Sea Centerpiece Ideas

Beach-themed centerpieces add a touch of the sea to a party or get together. Whether you're hosting a luau, getting married on the beach or simply having some friends over for a casual dinner, themed centerpieces create a relaxing ambiance. The beach centerpieces also work well as favors or door prizes for the guests, particularly if the event is a corporate party. Does this Spark an idea?

Sand Play

A tray of sand with small shovels and rakes gives the party guests some entertainment as they sit at the tables. The sand trays bring the adults back to their childhood and the hours they spent in the sandbox. Colored sand to fit the party color scheme ties the sand trays to the overall party decor. You can also add some small sea shells to the sand for more of a beach theme. The sand trays can get messy, particularly if there are kids at the party. Expect to clean sand from the tables and floors if you go with this centerpiece idea.

Sand Castles

Sand castles are a beach staple. Instead of making actual sand castles that will crumble and make a big mess, you can create artificial sand castles using Styrofoam. You can find Styrofoam circles and squares at a craft store to create the desired shape for your sand castle. The size and shape of the sand castle is up to personal preference. A craft knife works well to cut the Styrofoam if you want a fancy shape to your sand castle centerpiece. After it is constructed and glued together, give it a coat of light brown paint. After the paint is dry, you can spread a thin layer of glue and sprinkle it with sand. The sand castle should dry completely before you move it into place. Paper flags on wooden dowels top off the sand castles.

Beach Gear

A collection of beach-themed items is a simple way to create a centerpiece that fits the sea theme. Ideas include sand buckets, shovels, large sea shells, coconuts, sunscreen and sunglasses. Beach towels or palm branches make a nice base for the items. A surfboard cut from a piece of cardboard is another option for the base. The other items are arranged on top of the base to complete the beach-themed centerpiece.

Beach Candles

A glass container with sand and sea shells in the bottom makes a fitting candle holder for the beach theme. Place candles of tan, sea green or blue into the sand and light them for an elegant sea centerpiece. You can also tie raffia around the edge of the glass container for a finishing touch.
